‘One day you will find the right words, and they will be simple.’

Jack Kerouac.

It’s so easy to get caught up in the drama of life. But when we step outside of the theatrics, life really is simple.

We complicate it by looking for complicated answers, thinking that a complex solution must necessarily be better than a simple one. But we can train ourselves to step away from any drama, to look for the simple solutions and to live by them.

For instance:
The only answer to procrastination really is quite simply doing.
The only way to overcome a fear is to face that fear.
The only way to attract people to your art is to let them know that you exist!
The only way to learn how to paint or draw or dance is to paint, draw or dance.
The only way to write a book is to write.
And so on…

It might sound like the obvious, but so often we overlook the direct, simple solution and make life extremely complicated for ourselves.

I know that in some cases, it’s an oversimplification, but the general idea remains the same. It might have to be broken down into smaller, more manageable steps, but the answer is still simple, in the end.

Just be willing, and just take one small step at a time, remembering to keep it simple along the way.
